Services
I am prepared to facilitate professional development (PD) for teachers, administrators, and other education-related stakeholders, including related services personnel. My sessions are specifically designed to address the unique needs of culturally and linguistically diverse learners, particularly at the intersection of language and ability, as well as the impact of immigration on education. The PD offerings are grounded in the latest evidence-based research on providing effective services for culturally and linguistically diverse learners, both with and without disabilities.
The areas in which I am currently prepared to offer training include:
-
Distinguishing Between Language Difference and Language Disorder within an MTSS Framework: Exploring how to identify and respond to language differences versus language disorders, particularly in multilingual students, within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework.
-
Trauma-Informed Practices for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Students: Understanding the impact of trauma on culturally and linguistically diverse (CLD) students and exploring effective, compassionate strategies for supporting their academic success.
-
High-Leverage Practices for Multilingual Learners with Disabilities: Focusing on the intersection of special education and bilingual education, emphasizing high-leverage practices for differentiating content, assessments, and instructional methods.
-
The Intersection of Immigration and Education: Discussing how immigration status and experiences impact students’ educational needs, with strategies for creating more inclusive and supportive learning environments for immigrant students.
-
Supporting Families in Multilingual Communities: Understanding the critical role families play in the education of multilingual students. This session addresses strategies for engaging immigrant and multilingual families, providing culturally relevant communication tools, and building partnerships that enhance student success.
